About Elaine
Violinist and pianist Elaine Ubando began piano lessons at the age of 7 and violin lessons at the age of 8. Today, she is an alumni of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where she proudly graduated magna cum laude.
Due to her classical training, she has often had a particularly rigid view of music and music performance, despite an appreciation for a variety of genres. The classical genre was born from privilege and its modern day participants can still be exclusive and elitist. While that may be the current reality, Elaine hopes to not only to bring all peoples into the fold, but create a new culture where music can be stimulating but not derisive.
While living in her native California, Elaine could be seen performing for the San Francisco chapter of the National Association of Composers of the USA (NACUSA), playing 20th and 21st century to the delight of audiences and composers alike. Recently, she has begun her own recital series of modern and traditional works to be performed live and streamed online.
Over the years, Elaine has been under the tutelage of these outstanding violinists and pianists: Cindy Chen, Christina Mok, Dr. Won-bin Yim, Ron Waibel, Margaret Liang, and Carmencita Aspiras. To these and countless others she owes a deep and profound thank you.
